Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions
Everything people ask before their first game. If your question isn't here, the rules go into detail.
Is GoatPick free?
Entirely. No subscription, no purchase, no advertising, and no data resold.
All you need is an account: a username, an email address, a password.
Do I need to install an app?
No. GoatPick runs in the browser, on phone and on desktop alike.
You can add it to your home screen to open it like an app, but it's never required.
Notifications work without installing anything — except on iPhone, where adding it to the home screen is needed.
How many people can be in a room?
Up to ten players, including whoever created the room.
How do I join a friend's game?
They send you their room's five-character code; you type it in and you're there.
The code never mixes look-alike characters: you can't get it wrong copying it out.
Can we join a room after kick-off?
No. The doors close at kick-off: past that moment, the code lets nobody in.
A room is also full at ten players — better to join early.
I won't be around just before the match, can I still play?
Yes, if the room was created with an open draft. It then starts on both teams' full squads and you build your list whenever you like, even several days ahead.
That's decided when the room is created — tell whoever sets it up.
Which matches can we play on?
Upcoming matches in Nations League, Champions League, Europa League, Ligue 1, Premier League, and La Liga.
The list grows season after season; you always see the available fixtures when creating a room.
What if my player isn't in the starting eleven?
He is skipped and your next choice takes his place, without you losing your rank.
If none of your choices start, a starter is drawn for you: that's fate.
Two people want the same player, who gets him?
A random draw, and it's told at the reveal: you see how many people were after that player and who came out on top.
Losers aren't penalised: they go again next round with their next choice.
I didn't have time to make my list.
You play anyway: a player is drawn for you among the starters still free.
You set off with less control, but never without a player.
Where does my player's rating come from?
It's the match rating given to his performance, taken as it stands.
It's recomputed on every update during the game, then frozen at the final whistle.
My player comes off at half-time, am I out?
No. His rating stays what he earned on the pitch; it simply stops moving once he's off.
That's the whole point of the draft: aim for the one who'll weigh on the match, and last the distance.
Can we play on several matches at once?
Yes. A room covers one match, but nothing stops you having several on the go.
Your home screen lists them with their state badge: Waiting, Draft open, Live, Over.
Can I delete my account?
Yes, from your profile, without having to write to anyone.
A summary of your past games stays visible to those who played them, but your account and your personal data are deleted.
